Integration
ThynkFile + Tally Prime
From Trial Balance to ROC Filing
Export your Tally Trial Balance, drag it into ThynkFile, and get Schedule III financial statements, XBRL instance documents, and a complete filing package — all in under 30 minutes. No XBRL vendor. No Excel templates. No manual mapping.
How It Works
Three steps. No configuration. Works with any Tally Prime company file.
Export from Tally
Gateway of Tally > Export > Trial Balance > XML. Takes under 2 minutes. Excel export also supported.
Drag-Drop Upload
Drop the XML or Excel file into ThynkFile. The parser strips group headers, handles sub-totals, and extracts leaf GL lines automatically.
Auto-Map & Generate
800+ pre-mapped GL patterns handle ~85% of standard Tally accounts instantly. AI classification covers the rest. Review, confirm, and generate in one click.
Built for Tally's Unique Data Structure
Tally exports are not straightforward CSV files. They contain nested groups, sub-totals, mixed-format balance columns, and sometimes Hindi GL names. ThynkFile handles every quirk.
Tally Group Header Recognition
Tally exports include group totals (Current Assets, Loans & Advances, etc.) that are not GL lines. ThynkFile identifies and strips these automatically so they do not pollute your mapping.
Sub-Total Handling
Tally XML exports nest sub-totals within groups. The parser reconstructs the hierarchy and extracts only leaf-level GL balances for classification.
Single-Balance Column Support
Many Tally exports use a single net balance column with Dr/Cr suffixes instead of separate debit and credit columns. ThynkFile detects this format and splits correctly.
Hindi & Regional GL Names
Firms operating in Hindi or regional languages often have GL names in Devanagari or transliterated English. The AI classification layer handles these without pre-mapping.
800+ Pre-Mapped GL Patterns
Covers the standard Tally chart of accounts exhaustively: Sundry Debtors, Sundry Creditors, Cash-in-Hand, Bank OD, Provisions, Reserves — every common Tally GL name maps on first upload.
ODBC Connector (Advanced)
For firms with Tally running on a server, the ODBC connector pulls Trial Balances directly without manual export. Requires Tally Prime with ODBC enabled.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions from CAs using Tally Prime with ThynkFile.
Which Tally export format should I use?
XML export gives the best results because it preserves group hierarchy and account metadata. Go to Gateway of Tally > Export > Trial Balance > XML format. Excel exports also work but may require ThynkFile to infer grouping from indentation.
Does ThynkFile handle multi-company Tally exports?
Each company should be uploaded separately. If you export a consolidated TB from Tally, ThynkFile will process it as a single entity. For group companies, upload each company's TB individually and ThynkFile tracks them as separate companies under your firm.
What if my Tally GL names are customised?
The 3-layer classification engine handles this. Layer 1 (deterministic rules) covers standard names. Layer 2 (AI classification) handles custom or unusual names by analysing context. Layer 3 (firm memory) ensures that once you correct a mapping, it is remembered permanently for your firm.
Can ThynkFile handle Tally's single-column TB format?
Yes. Many Tally users export Trial Balances with a single net balance column showing "Dr" or "Cr" suffixes. ThynkFile auto-detects this format during column mapping and splits it into proper debit/credit columns internally.
How does pricing work for Tally-based uploads?
Pricing is per company, not per upload. Plans start at approximately ₹79 per client on the annual plan. The first 3 companies are free with no credit card required. Re-uploads for the same company and period do not count as additional charges.
Is my Tally data secure?
All data is stored in PostgreSQL hosted in Mumbai, India (ap-south-1). Financial amounts are never sent to AI — only GL names and debit/credit direction. Raw uploads are auto-deleted after 90 days. See our Trust Centre for full details.
